MES for SAP

HYDRA-MES for SAP

Ideal Supplement for SAP Applications

Many companies plan and control their business processes with the commercial, horizontal solutions of SAP AG. The efficiency of SAP systems depends, among other things, on the quality and timeliness of the data to be processed.

Subsystems such as HYDRA-MES are able to collect current data from the areas production, HR and quality, forward them to SAP modules in a timely manner, and provide complementary functions for production-related departments.

Close Collaboration with SAP AG

SAP collaborates with solution providers whose systems effectively complement and support SAP functions. Manufacturing companies especially benefit from effective Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) that record information in a timely manner, upload it to the SAP system and provide employees working in production or who are

technically-oriented, with complementary functions as an add-on to SAP.

MPDV has been an SAP software partner for many years and provides MES solutions including certified interfaces to

SAP applications. The continuous development of certified interfaces will continue to be an important part of our future strategy. Our in-house SAP Competence Center supports our customers in the optimal use of our HYDRA MES modules in conjunction with SAP functions. Our MES solutions close the gap between production processes and the management level.

HYDRA as an MES System within the SAP Environment

Many SAP users need further functions beyond the range provided by SAP. HYDRA-MES offers complementary applications for the following areas:

• Shop Floor Data

• Machine and Process Data

• Shop Floor Control

• Material and Production Logistics

• Quality Data Collection

• Tools and Resources Management

• Time and Attendance / Personnel Time Management

• Access Control

• Incentive Wages / Premium Pay

• Tracking & Tracing

• Energy Management

The data exchange with the SAP modules PP, PP-PI, PP-REM, CO, HR, PM, PS, QM, MM and NetWeaver is optionally based on:

• the certified interfaces HR-PDC and PP-PDC or KK1 and KK2 (PDC-CC1 and PDC-CC2),

• the standardized interfaces KK3, KK4 (PDC-CC3, PDCCC4), PI-PCS, PP-REM, QM-IDI and MM-MOB,

• individual interfaces using BAPI and iDOC technologies.

In cases where SAP applications only need to be complemented by current data, HYDRA is used as a pure data acquisition/upload system.

HYDRA-MES: Connection of SAP with the Machine Level

HYDRA is used as an MES within the SAP environment if production data is not only to be recorded but also processed and evaluated in an integrated manner. HYDRA supplements

SAP functions very effectively, particularly in areas that are related to machines and processes.

Your benefits: HYDRA provides SAP modules with current data without requiring complicated paper management and time-consuming post-capture of data. The practice-proven

HYDRA functions help detect production and resource bottlenecks at an early stage, enabling you to respond and take countermeasures quickly. HYDRA supports setting up “paperless” production and transfers the required information, such as drawings, inspection plans, work instructions and bills of material, to workplaces and machines without any additional effort.

The HYDRA-mySAP-Connector provides for communication with SAP systems.

It uses SAP standard technologies such as ALE or RFC and is also capable of communicating with NetWeaver.

On the SAP clients, HYDRA shows the current status of machines, equipment, production orders and processes online.

Each user can configure his or her individual layout.

HYDRA monitors machines, processes and equipment. At the push of a button, you get an exact overview of the

frequency and duration of downtimes and malfunctions occurring during a selected period of time.

Get Closer to Production with HYDRA

The acceptance, and thus the efficiency of production-related systems, largely depends on how well machine operators, setters and foremen are supported. The most important prerequisite is that data can be collected reliably and as easily as possible.

HYDRA-MES systems use terminals, industrial PCs and data acquisition devices that can be operated ergonomically and their dialogs can be configured individually, based on the tasks required.

HYDRA-MES terminals and data acquisition devices provide appropriate equipment for integration into the production environment as well as interfaces for the direct upload of data from machine controls, scales, measuring devices and other peripheral equipment. If required, printers can be connected in order to print shop papers, labels and accompanying

documents. These devices support “paperless” production by displaying important information for setters and machine operators.

Benefits of Integration: One Terminal for All Cases

The benefits provided by an integrated MES solution like HYDRA become especially apparent when it comes to the terminals:

data for production and maintenance orders, machines, persons, inspection orders, materials and batches can be recorded on one device.

The uniform user interface reduces the expense and time spent on the education of workers, posting and transit times drop and investment

volume is reduced as well. The user may individually configure which functions should be available at which terminals: this applies for simple

order uploads as well as for complex posting processes within in-production inspection.

Valuable Support for SAP Applications

In addition, the HYDRA system administrator is able to adjust the layout and the terminal user dialogs to specific situations. An example of perfect integration into the world of SAP: the shop floor terminal displays the maintenance catalog from PM; the employee posts the required times and uploads them directly to PM. Consequently, HYDRA causes the automatic generation of a maintenance order in PM.The input of data is especially user-friendly if touch screen terminals are used. HYDRA users can choose whether they would like to use shop floor terminals provided by MPDV, devices provided by other manufacturers or even common PCs. HYDRA software can be run on devices that are compatible with PCs. If a Local Area Network (LAN) does not exist and is not planned, the devices can also be connected using wireless LAN.
