Incoming Goods Inspection

HYDRA Incoming Goods Inspection

Incoming Goods Inspection (WEP)

Only resources and products meeting specified requirements may be used in the production process. Systematic inspections of incoming goods help detect quality problems in supplied products before they can affect the manufacturer’s production chain. Flexible dynamic sampling procedures, including access to the inspection history of goods and

suppliers, can be used to minimize costs for the inspection of incoming goods. Based on these processes, inspections will only be suggested when they are deemed necessary.

Dynamic sampling rules can be defined individually by the user. In addition, it is possible to apply “skip-lot procedures”, if necessary.

The Incoming Goods Inspection module is able to communicate with a higher-level ERP system using a bi-directional interface. Upon the delivery of goods, the ERP system

transfers data, such as bill of lading numbers, delivery dates, item details, batch information and quantity (target and actual) pertaining to articles subject to inspection, to HYDRA. HYDRA-CAQ will then automatically generate the appropriate inspection steps.

After the Incoming Goods Inspection has been completed, inspection results are communicated to the ERP system (e.g. on hold, released, or rework). Inspection characteristics that led to a “failed” inspection are forwarded together with the inspection results to HYDRA Complaint Management (REK). HYDRA Complaint Management then begins the relevant workflow processes to initiate a supplier complaint.

Inspection Planning

The same functions used by the In-Production Inspection module and other HYDRA-CAQ modules are used for the purpose of incoming goods inspection planning. A special feature is the dynamic sampling feature that is based on inspection level definitions and transitional definitions, in accordance with DIN ISO 2859 and DIN ISO 3951. In addition, dynamic

sampling also allows for the specification of individual definitions. Dynamic sampling may either be configured in relation to product characteristics and / or batches.

Evaluations

Functions such as control charts (e.g. comprehensive value patterns pertaining to several previously received shipments of the same type of goods), tracking of measures and failure mode analysis are available to visualize the results within the Incoming Goods Inspection module. A variety of diagrams and tables can be combined individually. In addition, special reports about the dynamic sampling history in relation to product characteristics or batches enable users to view quality control results (pass or fail) as well as inspection severity levels. This functionality allows users to intervene in the process and adjust the current inspection level. This might be necessary if a delivered product which had initially

been classified as “pass” turns out to be faulty later on in the production process.

The dynamic sampling history shows all quality decisions, including applied dynamic sampling rules and inspection levels.

As with the In-Production Inspection module, the Incoming Goods Inspection module allows for measured

values of digital test equipment and measuring devices to be copied automatically.

Supplier Evaluation / Assessment Management

As part of the universal assessment management, HYDRA supplier evaluations can be performed based on different requirements. Departments may be evaluated in addition

to suppliers. For this purpose, criteria is defined, grouped together, and integrated into individual assessment catalogs. Groups and individual criteria may be weighted at different

levels. Key figures, such as on-time delivery performance, delivery quantities, and quality or complaint behavior are determined automatically. Previous overall assessments are evaluated using trend analyses. In addition, the development of individual evaluation criteria may be analyzed. Suppliers can be added to groups and compared with each

other. HYDRA provides templates of assessment letters to simplify communication with suppliers.
